Street Car Lofts oneLINE Mural
It is difficult to understand how this mural was painted unless you enter the mind of oneLINE artist Jonathan Applegate. This mural is a clear demonstration of his genius to “see” the path of the contour line without advanced planning, scaling, or gridding on a wall measuring almost 1000 square feet.
When you ask him how he does it, the answer is mindblowing. First, he can envision himself from across the alley so he can grasp his position on the wall. Then he scales an image he is creating on the fly in his mind. Finally, he makes sure the line completes the picture without touching, crossing or intersecting. The process is simply remarkable, and we are excited to share these videos with you.
It took Denver artist Jonathan Applegate more than four weeks to finish the mural. The entire nature scene was done without looking at a reference. Growing up in Colorado left an imprint on his style in the way he maps out the mountain scene from memory.
The north side of the mural is a tribute to the final stop on the trolley line that used to come up to the Tennyson Berkeley neighborhood from Denver for recreation. The building is on the site of where the trolleys were turned around for the return trip back downtown.
